Mission Madness is a weekend retreat for youth groups with a focus on community based mission work. In years past, the students have painted homes, built decks, landscaped yards, built trails, fed the hungry, visited the sick, and just loved their neighbors. The weekend not only meets physical needs but also focuses on the spiritual needs of our students. It's a great ministry event that helps bless all those involved. Register here.
Ever wanted to be at the manger with Jesus? Now's your chance as the church will put on a living nativity. Take your turn as a shepherd, angel, or wise man. Think you have what it takes to be a parent of Jesus? If so, then portray Joseph or Mary! We'll be out front of the church waving to all the passersby as we bring the nativity scene to life. We'll also go Christmas Caroling in the neighborhood around the church, so make sure you warm up your voice with some good food and hot chocolate!
The Youth Group will meet at the church at 3 PM for a day to finish their shopping lists. They'll head to the MacArthur Center in Norfolk to shop, dine, and enjoy each other's company before touring the Christmas Lights at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. They'll return to the church by 8:30.
Come hang out for a night of music led by Stephen Day, worship pastor at Pinecrest Church in Portsmouth. Stephen will hang out with us, play some music, and we'll just be able to chill, eat, and fellowship with one another. Come out and bring a friend. We'll meet in the Old Fellowship Hall.
The Youth Group's Fall Retreat to Eagle Eyrie Conference Center in Lynchburg, VA, has been rescheduled for Dec. 11-13. Students will meet at the church at 5 pm on Friday, December 11, and will return on Sunday afternoon, December 13, at 3:30 PM. Please be aware that the retreat will be in the mountains in December, so bring warm clothing. See Dawn for more information.
The Youth will be hosting a parents' night out by watching the children while the parents are free for a date night and for a chance to do some Christmas shopping. Parents--do as you wish but allow the youth group to raise money for their trips by watching your students. Donations are requested to assist the youth group in their fundraising goals--perhaps consider giving at least what you would pay for a babysitter.
Bethlehem is partnering with Healthy People, Healthy Suffolk and other community sponsors to install benches in the Great Dismal Swamp. Meet at the church at 8 AM, bring gloves and a great attitude as we install these benches. Invite your friends to walk the Washington Ditch trail and sit on your bench!
